JUS BROTHERS Ninth
Red Hot Poker Run
California, The Sunshine State. Yeah, right!
Winter 1999 was a long time in leaving, and whatever
happened to spring? Seemed like we jumped from a long,
cold winter right inta summer, literally within one week.
I rekon I shouldn't complain though, 'cause it was the right
damn week! Yep, just in time for the Ninth Annual J.B.M.C.
Poker Run. Sunny skies and temperatures in the ( I still
can't believe it ) low 90's. Now that's what I'm talkin' about!
Finally some good ol' Northern California red hot.
The Jus' Brothers M/C hosted this run out of Dick's Place
this year. It's a little, biker friendly bar on Crowslanding Rd.
about nine miles south of Modesto, out in the boonies.
Perfect for the kind of partyin' we like ta do. Couldn't have
asked for a nicer run route. The 110 miles were non-urban,
scenic-filled putin' roads. Combine that with all the stops
being full liquor bars, and of course the aforementioned
April heat wave, along with the friendly Jus' Brothers
card dealers, and this hadta be the best run on the planet,
at least for April 17th, 1999 anyway.
Me and Drop-Dead-Fred worked the first stop, a bar
called the Outpost. The place was full of Clampers when
we arrived. I don't have the space here to tell ya all the
weird shit we seen that day, but our prospects have it easy
compared to the crazy things a wannabe Clamper has ta do.
They must really want to be Clampers in the worst way is
all I can say. Anyhow, as ya can imagine, it was a lot of fun
spending the afternoon dealing cards in a bar full of bikers
and Clampers.
Course this was just the riding part of the day. The
other fun was still waiting back at Dick's Place, where
The Deep River Blues band was tuning up. Jus' Brother
'Railroad' and Prospect 'Jon-Jon' were loading up the
J.B.M.C. barbeque trailer with ribs. There were also bike
games planned including push-the-keg, slow race, and the
ever popular bite-the-weinie. A little sumthin' for everyone.
Our President, 'Johnny-Reb', handed out the dozen or so
trophies, and for those the didn't get a trophy there were
a tons of door prizes to go 'round too. Wouldn't be a proper
run without a 50/50 raffle, and the winner there went home
with $160.00 cash.
After the great rib dinner ya had a choice of grabbin'
another cold one and checking out the vendors, dancing
to the live tunes, or gettin' some fresh ink from the foxy
lady artist that was on hand. Couldn't keep the prospect
away from her. Four new tattoo's Jon-Jon?
Some of the clubs in attendance included members
of the Hells Angels, Devils Horsemen, Vietnam Vets,
MoFomen, Lost Souls, and the Henchmen M/C. The CMA
made a strong showing also. Patcholders and independents
alike, we thank you all for the support.
Next year will be the Jus' Brothers Motorcycle Club's
10th annual run and we plan to be ready to do it up right!
So, don't be late 'cause it's gonna be great, and don't forget
to pack your suntan lotion for that red hot April sun!
