5th Annual JUS BROTHERS M/C
Mystery Run
Jus havin' fun
A laid back time at the La Grange Saloon
Sat. Aug. 26th, 2006
Time for the 5th, JUS BROTHERS M/C
Mystery Run hosted by the Turlock chapter.
As I came down Hwy 88 out of Nevada I was
hoping the weather wasn't going to be 110
degrees down in the valley. I was pleasantly
surprised with the high 80's temperatures and
a light breeze blowing. Things were definitly
starting out right.
My wife Debbie and I, along with Iggy, the
Turlock V.P. had the front door table at the
La Grange Saloon where the run would wind
up. We were there early and set up long before
the riders were due. The sign-in's were at
Dick's Place on Crowslanding Rd. outside of
Modesto and the route was about 65 miles so
we figured we wouldn't have too long to wait
before we'd be getting busy.
Sure 'nuff about 11:30am the first riders
showed and drew their last card. The sign-in
included 5 stops for cards and a meal ticket for a
heapin' plate of BBQ'd Tri-tip slices along with
home made beans, salad, and a dinner roll. The
chow was prepared and served by Deborah who
is Bob's better half and together owners of the
La Grange Saloon.
Meanwhile, back at the front door things were
really getting busy. Besides the last card, the
riders could buy 50/50 tickets, raffle prize tickets
and tickets for the $500.00 grand prize. We had
tons of fun dishing out cards and tickets and I
gotta say, I worked up a hell of a thirst by the
time my job was done. No problem there though
since there were 4 gorgeous bar tenders behind
the bar taking care of the crowd. Nobody had to
wait to get a cold one thanks to Marla, Jenny,
Anna & of course Deborah. Service with a smile!
Out back of the saloon is a fenced yard with
tables, chairs and a bandstand. While everyone
got comfortable and chowed down, the band,
Mike Hammer & the Nails, tuned up and began
to lay down some great music. Blues is their
specialty and they are very good!
Boston, President of the Turlock chapter of the
JUS BROTHERS, took the mic during the break
and gave the slow race trophy to the Old Beemer
Guy. He shows up every year with his BMW and
always wins. This year nobody had the moxie
to compete against him so he walked away with
the trophy by default. Guess that's what happens
when your reputation preceeds ya.
Boston also announced the high hand winner.
Luis who came with the Hooligans M/C took the
$100 with, get this, four queens with an ace high.
Man, it hardly gets better than that. Then came
what most were waiting for, the draw for the $500
dollars. A ticket was drawn and guess what, the
winner wasn't even there. Not to worry since ya
don't have to be present to win in this drawing.
Boston snatched up his cell phone and called
the guy up then put the phone up to the mic so
everybody could hear him yell. Congrats to
Jerry of Modesto on the $500 win.
There were booths set up out back also and
if ya were inclined ya could buy JBMC run shirts
and other goodies from the JUS BROTHERS and
the HELLS ANGELS also had a booth with shirts
and goodies available too. The two long tables
full of raffle prizes were a hub of activity as
everyone gathered around to see if their tickets
matched any of the items on the tables. Lots
and lots of prizes here and hardly anybody went
home empty handed.
If you've never been to the La Grange Saloon
out by Lake Don Pedro ya should plan a ride out
there. The scenery is great and Bob & Deborah
provide a real laid back, biker friendly atmosphere.
Thanks much to all those who attended and
supported the 5th Mystery Run and be sure and
watch for this run next year in the events section
of the Thunder Press or the JUS BROTHERS M/C
website at: http://www.jusbrothersmc.com.
The JUS BROTHERS M/C would also like to thank
Cindy Bier out at Dick's Place and Bob & Deborah
at the La Grange Saloon for their support.
Hopefully some of you slow race champions
will come out to give the Old Beemer Guy some
competetion next year.
Cya there.
